Direct billing
We accept most major dental insurance plans used in Ontario, and in most cases we send claims straight to your insurer. You pay only what your plan doesn't cover, such as a co-payment or deductible.
Insurance detailsNew patients
New to the area, looking for a family dentist, or due for a check-up after a while away? Here is everything you need for your first visit to Oak & Pearl Dental: how to book, what happens, what to bring and how insurance works.
Your first visit
Plan for about an hour. A first visit can take a little longer, so there is time for your questions. Here is how it usually goes.
Please arrive about 10 minutes early. We confirm your details and insurance, and help you fill in a short health history form.
Tell us about any concerns, your past dental visits and what you would like from your care. We go over your medical history and any medicines you take.
Your dentist checks your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissues of your mouth. X-rays are taken only if they are needed to see what the exam can't.
Depending on your needs and the time available, your cleaning is done at the same visit or at a separate appointment.
We explain what we found in plain language, walk you through your options and their costs, and give you an insurance estimate. You decide what happens next.
Be prepared
Having these ready helps us check you in quickly and bill your insurance correctly.
A driver's licence or another piece of photo ID.
Your insurance card, or your plan's policy and ID numbers. Covered under a spouse's or parent's plan? Bring the plan member's name and date of birth.
Covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan? Bring your member card or the member ID from your Sun Life letter.
The names and doses of any medicines, vitamins or supplements you take. A photo of the labels works too.
Any medical conditions, allergies or recent surgeries, and your family doctor's name.
Had dental X-rays in the last year or two? Your previous dental office can send them to us, which may mean fewer new ones.
Bringing a child? A parent or guardian should come with them. Bring your child's insurance details, or their CDCP member ID if they are covered.
Insurance and costs
Whatever your coverage, you know the cost of your treatment before it begins.
We accept most major dental insurance plans used in Ontario, and in most cases we send claims straight to your insurer. You pay only what your plan doesn't cover, such as a co-payment or deductible.
Insurance detailsCovered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan? We bill Sun Life directly, so there are no claim forms for you. Bring your member card or member ID.
Using CDCP with usYou are welcome here too. We explain your treatment options and give you a clear estimate before any treatment. Monthly payment plans through iFinance are also available, on approved credit.
Request an appointment Monthly payment plansBefore any treatment, we explain the cost and what your plan is expected to pay. For larger treatment, we can ask your insurer for a predetermination first, so you know what is covered before you decide.
Feeling nervous?
Lots of people put off the dentist, sometimes for years. There is no judgement here. We start with an exam, explain what we see, and help you decide where to begin, at a pace that suits you.
Care for every age
Booking for more than one person? Tell us who is coming and we will try to schedule family visits together.
We recommend a first visit by age one, or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits help children feel at home in the dental chair.
Children's dentistryCheck-ups, cleanings, fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions and more, so most of your care can happen in one place.
All servicesRegular check-ups, gum care, and complete or partial dentures, with time to talk through your options and costs.
DenturesTooth pain, swelling or a broken tooth? Call us. We try to see emergency patients the same day, depending on availability.
